Welcome back everyone! Week 9 has come and gone and before we know it my genius project will be complete! To recap, last week I learned the first 13 letters of the alphabet and practiced letters 'a-m'. This week, the focus was on researching and learning the letters 'n-z'. Some of the letters such as 'z' required me to look up some pictures so that I had an idea of how to style the letter but I feel like I got the hang of it through the help of some visuals.
To start, I created a gif to show you how I did the letter n. As you can see, there is a downstroke followed by an overturn. I'd definitely say that using the Fudenosuke pen is more sensitive than the brush pen so I feel that by practicing with the Fudenosuke first, it really helps maintaining and working towards achieving a steady hand.
Here is the picture of all the letters written out. Now I'm not going to lie, I had practiced the letters a lot before taking this picture but this gives you an idea of what the remaining letters look like written in calligraphy. I think from this list, I would say that the letters 'm' and 'r' are my favourite to do. The 'r' also took me quite a while to nail down, but I am much more confident in it.
So now it was time to put all the letters together to make one long calligraphy alphabet! I still referenced the YouTube videos that I linked in last weeks blog for some ideas on how to join each letter, but I must say seeing it all put together was immensely satisfying for me and made me proud at how far I have come on this journey with you all. Looking at the future, I will now start practicing different words and phrases so that I can create my card for my finished product. For now, here are all 26 letters for you to watch!
That's all for now and I can't wait to start practicing for my final product! Have a great week!
