The End of Our Written Road
Hello everyone! Can you believe we are near the end of "Calligraphy with Jacqueline"? Time has flown by, the snow is melted outside, and before we know it summer will be upon us! Between my sixth blog post and now, I have been practicing writing different words and phrases. My method was pretty much writing any word that popped into my head to practice, and I'm not kidding when I say that I lost count of the amount of paper that I went through writing these different words. I must say, learning calligraphy is not the most eco-friendly activity. Nevertheless, you can see a small snapshot into all of the writing I was working on.
This week I learned that through different writing techniques and sizes, maintaining control and being neat and smooth was a lot harder with a small font rather than a larger font like with using the brush pen. The more space I had to write, the smoother I was able to be. I tried to keep the pens with me and a pad of paper so that if I ever had some spare time, I could practice writing some more. I would definitely say that more practice is in order for me, but through my research in the previous weeks I have a much better grasp and understanding of calligraphy, the steps that go into it, the materials to use, and the mechanics of the writing.
As always, using simple searches on Google Images helped to provide me with some inspiration as well as assistance if I was attempting some capital letters. Capital letters are still what I have trouble with, so I will continue to practice them going forward as that is the only way to get better.
My brother's birthday is coming up on March 25th, so I am now going to begin writing a "Happy Birthday" card for him as my Genius Hour final product! It will be a good culmination of the skills I have learned, and I also plan on using both a brush pen and the Fudenosuke pen for the inside note. Stay tuned for the pictures of the complete card under the "My Product" tab on the blog!
As always, have a great week and stay tuned for the birthday card and my TED Talk as well.
Yours in writing,
Jacqueline
